Well. I spent the day making the damage popup text. And well, it is pain for something so simple due to Unity and the TextMEsh Pro implentation. Something as simple as popping up text became a rabbit hole. The big issue is with TextMeshPro it is mainly a UI text. There is the option of adding a TMPro to the empty gameobject. But, from there you are in the world of RectTransforms and boy, that is not fun to try and spawn into world space next to your sprite. Funny enough, I solved this problem two years ago but I forgot how I did. Yay. Anyway check out the front page for a new GIF showing the damage pop up in action.
