The Egg Hatches!
First Devlog!
Welcome, and thanks for reading.
I have been working on making prototypes in Unity for three years now as a way to build up both my C# and Pixel Art Skills. And now I am at the point where I feel confident in working on a finished product.
That is where Qwasome Quail comes in. I actually have another game that's deep in production called Wild Odditssey, but it is a much longer and more complex project and I wanted to focus on a small but strong game for my first release. One that takes six months versus a year or more.
I am a solo developer and do all my own art, design, programming, and music. As well as marketing! So, I needed a project that was simple in play but deep enough that it was fun for 30 levels.
Qwasome Quail has been in pre-production for 2 months now where I have been working on the basic mechanics of Quaily, the player character. As well as testing out Cinemachine and Camera operations for the pixel art. If you didn't know, Pixel Art is a hard medium to do on modern software and hardware. If interested, I can do a discussion on that part in another post.
But, I finally have a smooth camera and the basic movements and abilities of Quaily are mostly programmed in and animated. Of course, there will be constant tweaking of the systems but they are playable right now. Which means I can start working on level design and enemies.
So that is my next step, level designs, the art, and creating puzzles. Once I get a polished first level I plan on releasing a demo of the level for everyone to test out.
